CILICIA. Tarsus. Commodus, 177-192. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 30 mm, 16.26 g, 1 h), circa 180-182. ΑΥΤ•ΚΑΙ•ΑΥΡΗ•ΚΟΜΟΔΟѕѪ (retrograde) Laureate head of Commodus to left. Rev. ΑΔΡΙΑΝΗС ΤΑΡСΟΥ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛЄΩС Athena standing facing, head to left, holding owl in her right hand and spear and shield with her left. Cf. RPC IV 5036 (obverse legend not retrograde). Rare and with a curious engraver's error on the obverse. Minor scratch on the reverse, otherwise, about very fine.

The die engraver mistakenly cut the obverse legend retrograde.
